RELEASE DATE 4 May 2005
TITLE GROUNDWORK GETS PEOPLE WALKING IN GREASLEY

Come along to a Storytelling Walk on Sunday 8th May at 12.00pm and discover the history and folklore surrounding Greasley.

Local storyteller Simon Unsworth, better known as Waylander the Storyteller and also in his guise as chief guide for the Nottingham Ghost Walk, will be leading the walk around this picturesque area.

Simon is particularly keen to get people out and about to learn more about their local area and its heritage. He said: "Stories are as important today as they have ever been. It doesn't matter how old you are, a gripping tale will always be a gripping tale and it's likely to stay with you for a long time. A huge amount of what makes our culture and who we are today has come to us through our stories and legends, so it's best we don't forget them!"

Would you like to find out more? All are welcome to this family-oriented short walk (there are some steep slopes and rough tracks). Simon will lead you on an inspiring and enjoyable walk around Greasley combining history, folklore and storytelling for a fascinating Sunday afternoon ramble.

No booking necessary. Meet at the layby on the B600 next to Greasley Parish Church.
