An event to celebrate to end of a project embracing multi-cultural integration is to be held at Bestwood Country Park. The celebration event, will be held to commemerate the project which has been running since 1993. Developed by local regeneration charity, Groundwork Greater Nottingham, Khalsa Wood which is situated inside Bestwood Country Park, was established as an area containing aspects of Sikh culture.

Over the years various activities have taken place there, including projects involving the local and Sikh community to help understanding and integration of the Sikh religion. Other aspects which have been introduced include a specially designed gateway to the area, new paths, seating and interpretation boards.

Bal Kaur, Project Officer for Groundwork Greater Nottingham said, "This project has been a huge success. Khalsa Wood is within a very peaceful area of the park. This very much reflects the Sikh culture, and the installation of the interpretation boards has now been instrumental in getting this message across to people."

The event on 7th October 2006 is open to anyone, and is open between 11am and 3pm.
