RELEASE DATE 18 January 2006
TITLE COUNCIL DEDICATION PAYS OFF FOR MILLENNIUM PARK PROJECT

The dedication of Cossall Parish Council has paid off as the Cossall Millennium Park undergoes the final stages of improvements during January. Managed by local regeneration charity, Groundwork Greater Nottingham, the project has seen tremendous changes to the park.. These improvements have included the installation of new paths, the planting of new shrubs and trees, and additional gates and fencing. More recently, a bridge has been completed spanning the stream at the entrance of the park. The final stages which are taking place during January, include the installation of new seating and the planting of additional trees. Along with this, a short section of path is being built alongside maintenance of existing paths.

The Millennium Park has become a much appreciated focal point in the centre of the village of Cossall which is situated on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border. Jim Gill of Cossall Parish Council is delighted with the improvements and commented, "More people are now enjoying the benefits."

Chryse Tinsley, Landscape Architect for Groundwork Greater Nottingham also commented, "The improvements have taken some time to complete as funding for these types of projects takes time to secure. However, the work done has provided a very picturesque area of open space for residents of the village.
"Landowners, Nottinghamshire County Council, are also enthusiastic and have been very supportive over these improvements."
