RELEASE DATE 19 December 2005
TITLE OUTDOOR CLASSROOM FOR HIGHBANK PRIMARY NEARS COMPLETION

Break time for children at Highbank Primary in Clifton has recently become more exciting as they watch their new outdoor classroom take shape. With work on the stage and tiered seating area nearing completion, it is easy to see the potential of this project. The children will be able to participate in regular drama and music performances as well as benefiting from an outdoor teaching area. In particular, it is hoped that this project will provide opportunities to explore and increase awareness of other cultures.

The stage has an attractive setting with views out over the fields behind the school. The next phase involves planting three large trees around the edge of the playground, which will provide shade in the summer as well as breaking up the expanse of tarmac. Funding for the trees comes from the PCT's Sunscreen project, which is donating trees to four local schools.

For further information about the project contact Chryse Tinsley at Groundwork Greater Nottingham on 0115 978 8212.
