RELEASE DATE 27 October 2005
TITLE MAYOR IN APPLE LOTTERY

Groundwork Greater Nottingham's Windmill Garden Project will be launched today with the help of Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Mohammad Munir and the cutting of a ceremonial ribbon at the garden. The launch of the project is part of Groundwork Greater Nottingham's Apple Day celebrations, which are taking place today (27th October 2005) between 11am and 4pm. With great weather forecast for today and lots of activities planned, including apple juicing, the project launch and the celebrations should not be missed.

The project aims to restore a basic allotment in the Bobbersmill area of Nottingham into a community allotment garden, with sensory areas, a polytunnel and other exciting and interesting features and will be used by Groundwork in it's education and community projects. Judith Bagguley, Project Team Leader at Groundwork Greater Nottingham said, "A small amount of work has been done to clear the allotment, but work starts in earnest this week, when we have arranged for a group of students to come down to the allotment and paint a shed that we have acquired and also to clear the nearby stream of litter and other debris."

Windmill Community Garden is a two year project funded by Big Lottery.
