RELEASE DATE 28 October 2005
TITLE MAYOR LAUNCHES LOTTERY GARDEN

On Thursday 27th October, Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Mohammad Munir launched Groundwork Greater Nottingham's Windmill Garden project. The launch of the project was part of Groundwork Greater Nottingham's Apple Day Celebrations. The Lord Mayor was shown around the community garden and saw the work that needs to be done, before officially cutting a ribbon at the entrance to the garden to launch the project.

Children from the International Children's Club and Carlton Kids Out Of School Club and members of the local community watched the launch and attended the Apple Day event.

Judith Bagguley, Project Team Leader for Groundwork Greater Nottingham said, "The day was incredibly successful. We had lots of activities as part of the day, and the great thing is that the children and adults enjoyed themselves. Some of the people who came today, had never been to an allotment before this event, and as a result they are now interested in getting involved in the Windmill Community Garden project."

The Windmill Community Garden project is a two year project which has been funded by Big Lottery
