National regeneration media, partners and trust
staff today gained a deeper insight into successful local
sustainability projects within a complex environment as they
visited the new NG7 headquarters building of Groundwork Greater
Nottingham.
Located in Denman Street East, the HQ building is deliberately
located within one of the key communities where demand has
increased for Groundwork Greater Nottingham's work with partners
to improve local people's quality of life and environment.
A VIP tour of Groundwork Greater Nottingham projects took
in Scotholme Primary School 'Scotalot' allotments project
and 'Peggy's Park' a former railway cutting on the Edwards
Lane Estate. (Background Information enclosed).
New Chair of the Trust, serial entrepreneur Valerie Dwyer,
whose background includes enterprise, sustainability and partnership
development, welcomed visitors to the morning event and tours
which launch a new era for Groundwork Greater Nottingham.
Valerie said:-
"I believe that Groundwork Greater Nottingham, as an
innovator, is unique in being able to adapt and work with
different programmes of activity to meet the needs of local
communities. We are green, we are a charity and sustainability
in the broadest sense is at the heart of who we are, what
we do - but we are also professionals -driven by continuous
improvement".
In taking people through the projects, Zbig Szulc, ED of
Groundwork Greater Nottingham said:-
"In developing and delivering its activities, Groundwork
Greater Nottingham encourages and facilitates genuine community
engagement in order to deliver activity which is both appropriate
and wanted".
A new strategy to raise their profile saw Case Studies and
new marketing materials launched at the event which identify
six interlinking key strands of delivery across Education,
Land, Youth, Community, Employment and Business. Together
these demonstrate innovation and experience in working with
people to transform themselves and their communities, delivering
Groundwork Greater Nottingham's mission - changing places
changing lives.
